I received this letter from Cal State San Bernadino:
Dear Prof. X:
Thank you for your interest in a position at California State San Bernadino. Unfortunately the ad on the APA website was an error, and we requested it be removed. We have no position this year, and do not anticipate any for the following year.
We apologize for the inconvenience you incurred in submitting the paperwork; and wish you the best of luck in your search for a position teaching philosophy.

As if things couldn't get any worse. Now the APA seems to be inventing fake positions and posting phony ads...

I knew something weird was up with that ad, which is exactly why I didn't apply. The position was listed, for example, as beginning in Fall 2004, with applications due by November 2003. Even if one assumed the 2003 was supposed to be 2008 and the 2004 was supposed to be 2009, that still would have meant that the application deadline (November 08) had already passed by the time this ad was placed (January 09).

Someone seriously needs to take over the task of listing job advertisements from the APA. It's long overdue.

That is really disgusting. And what power do candidates have to do about something like this? Absolutely nothing.

That stinks. I got in the habit of always checking the school's HR webpage to confirm info about job postings. Not everyone updates their pages regularly, however, which is a PITA.
I am right now trying to figure out if a postdoc is still accepting applications because of conflicting years on the posting.
