Perhaps others will find the following PFO from Bard amusing, because it doesn't actually say that I've been rejected. I suppose it is the nicest rejection letter that I've gotten! Here it is: Dear...: Thank you for your recent resume and letter expressing your interest in the Tenure-line Assist. Philosophy position at Bard College. We were fortunate to have received many qualified candidates in the search process and have decided upon a shortlist of candidates whose credentials and qualifications best suit our current needs. You are encouraged to check our website at www.bard.edu/about/employment/employment/ where current lists of employment opportunities are listed. Also, we will keep your application on file for future reference. Again, we appreciate your interest in Bard College and wish you the best of luck in your job search. Regards, Nicole Roberts Human Resource Coordinator

Yeah, I got that one today too. I was especially pleased with the exclamation point in the subject line. I feel like I may have just one a million dollars in the Publisher's Clearinghouse Sweepstakes. Woohoo!
