If you struck out at the Eastern (or struck out trying to get an interview at the Eastern), where do you go this year for the next round of interviews? Central? Pacific? Both?
It looks like MSMC is interviewing at the Central, but I had thought that most departments would use the Pacific to do interviews this year because of the timing of the Central Division meetings and the February JFP.
(If you're rich and can afford to go to both, please spare the rest of us. This is a thread for those of us who are forced to make a choice.)

Better get a passport: NB that the Pacific is "abroad" this year, in Vancouver...
Hopefully, SC's will be sensible about this?

I was abroad last year, and most of the schools that wanted me to do APA interviews were willing to let me do phone interviews with them instead. I'm not sure how it affected results, but I did get flyouts and a job. So, if you can't afford to go to the APA, ask if a phone interview is a possibility.

Vancouver in the spring vs. Chicago in February?!?! Is this really the choice?!?! It's currently 7 degrees in Chicago with the windchill; I'm sure it'll warm up by February.
Obviously, there may be departments who out of necessity would choose to go to the Central (e.g. because they're afraid the funding for the new hire won't be around after March). But, man, if I were chair of the SC and had sufficient guarantee the funding would be there, I would not be heading to Chicago in February, especially given the lack of coordination between the Central and the JFP. And you thought the smoker at the Eastern APA was small! God, I hope somebody takes a picture.
