Hey you: How many interviews do you have? If your answer is "8 or more," we can't be friends.

What if my answer is not "8 or more"? Can we be friends then?

I see there's no option for people who have no interviews. I guess they don't matter, even on the internet.

So yeah....... Mark me down as in the "0" category.
Hopefully this week will turn things around. I'm batting 0 for 6 so far.

I don't even want to add up what I'm (in all likelihood) '0 for' at this point. I didn't expect much, but I did expect something. Running out of possibilities, judging by the wiki.

My hope is that search committees that actually are in a position to make an offer this year are getting greedy. They know they're in a buyer's market so to speak, since there are so few jobs and so many applicants. So maybe they're shooting higher than they otherwise would. For example, perhaps a SLAC is willing to make an offer to an NYU or MIT grad when they otherwise wouldn't.
If this is happening, it may be that only a few people are getting all the offers. Bad news for the rest of us now, but when the super stars are all settled, maybe the schools who shot too high will come knocking.
Just one theory.

Three canceled searches. One phone interview, which led to an APA interview. One official rejection letter. Many more waiting in the wings according to the Wiki.

Next they'll hook you up to a lie detector and ask what you really think about teaching Intro to Environmental Ethics from a Multicultural Perspective to Phys. Ed. majors every year...

According to this poll, it looks like a lot of people (including me) are trudging to Philly for just one interview. I think there's going to be a lot of disappointment in January.
See you in the hotel bar. I'll be the one on the floor.

Three and a half so far, although I've already been warned that the half will more than likely be canceled. 5 definitely canceled. 4 rejections. 25-30 listed on the wiki as having contacted people who aren't me. 20 left unaccounted for.

80 applications, 40 rejections (or, more accurately, a mixture of rejections and lack of department contact), 6 canceled searches, 5 golden rings, 3 interviews... and regarding said interviews, I have a question. I only recently got word of the interviews, and i would not have gone to the apa conference if i hadn't gotten them. thus, i ain't registered for the thing. nor can i register now, b/c the apa accepts no advance registration after 12/5, and currently the d**n office is closed... until the conference. so, does anyone know if i can still register (like, on-site on the 27th)?
thanks ya'll.
